Back To The Roots

vfb-fch

For obvious reasons, we haven’t been to mass events or in any big crowds recently. As an exception to the rule, this will change today: Tonight, we’re going to see the soccer match between VFB Stuttgart and FC Heidenheim in the 2nd German Bundesliga. More than 50.000 tickets of about 60.000 are already sold.

We have both been living in Stuttgart for quite a while now, so the city became our home. Nevetheless, tonight’s match is going to be an away game, at least for me. Heidenheim is the town where I was born and raised and I spent the whole youth part of my soccer career playing for the club which was called SB Heidenheim those days. I also got two years with the adult team under my belt. The club manager and the goalkeeper’s coach are both friends of mine from a long time ago.

We haven’t got tickets for the away supporter’s stand – youcan only buy these in Heidenheim – but we will be seated in close proximity. So it will be bit of an back to the roots-experience for me tonight. If you want to know wht life is all about in Heidenheim, please let my other old friend Michel explain that to you:

Well Entertained

For us, the option to get a seat is crucial for visiting concerts these days. So the Manufaktur in Schorndorf is one of our favourite places right now. We went there yesterday to see Canadian multi-instrumentalist Shotgun Jimmy performe outdoors. The guy definitely qualifies as an entertainer and we both enjoyed the music as well as the dinner we had there before.
