Rowboat

image

After a few days of rain and wind, which meant a stormy lake too, the sun returned today and the water went calm again. At least until we were out on the lake with our little rowboat for the first time this holiday.

When we were some distance away from our part of the coast, the wind increased and we had a hard time making it back to our little bay. With me being the only one in shape enough to pull  the oars l was delivered my fair share of workout today…

Kaurahiutale

image

Anybody ever had Kaurahiutale for breakfast? Propably yes, they’re nothing else than oats. But it’s unlikely that you ever tried them in the traditionally boiled Finish way. Supposed to fill your stomach for the day and best served with self-collected berries.

Today it’s raining, so my major task is to proceed in a book about integrative oncology. It elaborates the modern approach towards cancer – I’ve already mentioned it in an older post – which is combining orthodox medicine with alternative methods into a holistic kind of treatment.

A Berry Birthday

image

It’s no secret that Finland has to offer a great variety of wild berries. And it is also known to certain people that I’m really keen on these berries as long as they are red, blue or black. That’s why I received a delicious berry cake yesterday in order to celebrate my 49th birthday properly.

I’ts been great and quiet: I got up in the morning, had coffee, went for a run, jumped into the lake, had a decent breakfast and no duties to follow for the whole day. Except drinking a few litres of berry juice…

P.S.: Our company is going to leave tomorrow morning for about two days. They have some tasks to complete in the city and need to take the internet device with them. So you won’t hear from us two loners until Arja and my father will return.
