Lifting Spirits

image

After the disappointing talk to the doctor in which we didn’t receive the clearance we expected, Nadine needed somthing to lift her spirits. Therefore, we got ourselves a car again, drove to Tübingen and visited her sister and nephew. As usual, the little guy was the best medicine for Nadine’s mood – he is such a happy piece of sunshine. Although he had a hard time when I gave him some soccer coaching in difficult weather conditions…

And we also went to the Bürgerhaus Botnang, the place my chess club is located, to watch a really great Belgian movie I have to recommend to everybody:

Uncertainty

We returned home safely from our holiday on Tuesday. Everything went fine, Nadine coped with all situations quite well and we were in good hope for the results of a brain scan that was done just before we left. Also, everybody who met Nadine frequently during the last months told us that she has improved considerably. But the results given by the doctor today weren’t that good. They aren’t really bad neither, but there are still nine metastases in Nadine’s head. Everybody involved had hoped that there would be none any more.

It still remains unclear what that means exactly. The pictures from April still need to be compared to those from December which were taken before radiation therapy. And there will be another scan at the beginning of June. As long as these three scans aren’t compared, it isn’t possible to state growth, reduction or a stable state. I expected to get a comparison of December and April today, but this wasn’t the case. So we have to wait further in the same uncertain mood we’ve been living with for quite some time now.

A Sunny Sunday

Nadine and me are enjoying a sunny and relaxed Sunday in Barcelona: after having breakfast at or favourite restaurant Vegetalia we went to the beach and for a quick stroll around the university quaters. Now we’re at home recharging batteries for an evening out with an Indian dish and a documentary about Janis Joplin. Life can be so good!
