Pilgrimage

restingplace-12

I’ve changed the navigation bar of this blog: The RSS-feeds have disappeared and are replaced by the new section “Final Resting Place” now. There you can find information about how to get to Nadine’s tree and what else can be done at or around the Waldfriedhof.

If you want to do a little pilgrimage don’t hesitate to contact me. The so-called Blaustrümpflerweg connects my house with the Waldfriedhof. Maybe we could do a walk of a bit more than 30 minutes and take the cable-car uphill to visit Nadine’s tree together.

Valentine’s Day

valentinesday

Nadine and me never cared much about special days like Christmas, birthdays or Valentine’s Day.  Maybe we didn’t need Valentine’s Day when we were able to exchange our love every day. Now, with her gone, this becomes difficult and Valentine’s Day turned into a reminder of loss.

There’s still all that love in me and and I don’t know where to direct it – it has a clearly written nametag on it. All I could do today was make my way to the Waldfriedhof once again and stick a little wooden heart to her tree. If I only could write poetry…

Our Little Dove

Today I put a little dove made of clay between the roots of Nadine’s tree. I cannot recall the details but she received it from some relative sometime and we developped some banter from it that turned into a running gag for some time. Take it as a symbol for the fun we both could gain from the small things in life.

My mother once told me that she envied us for this gift. Whenever we visited her and got up in the morning, we were able to laugh together. I can’t tell you how much I miss this already.
