Carboplatinum Has Started

carboplatin

Nadine opted for the new chemotherpy with carboplatinum today. Of course she did, she still got a strong will to live, to stay with me and to see little Nick grow up. I was around when she received the first dosage this evening and there were no immediate side-effects or intolerances to be seen.

The basic plan is to apply two or three dosages in intervals of about three weeks, to monitor the process and to reconsider it then. So we’re back in a well-known situation in which we have to hope that some kind of substance takes the desired effects – let’s hope for the best once again!

A Choice To Make

The doctors on station D6, where Nadine went for another dosage of depocyt yesterday, noticed a change in the way her eyes are working and did another examination of her head. With a frustrating result: right now,  just when only one single cancer cell could be found in her spinal fluid anymore, some of the old metastases in her head have grown again and some new ones started to develop.

It is up to Nadine now to decide wether she wants to try another chemotherapy, maybe in combination with depocyte, which is known for it’s likeliness to cause effects in the head too. No guarantees of course, just a chance.  As the only alternative is to accept fate, I would go for it.

Nadine went into hospital again today for another treatment with Depocyt. If nothing is going wrong she will stay there for two nights and return home on Thursday.

A few days ago, our favourite visitor came around once again. I helped him assembling his toy helicopter so he could play at Nadine’s bed and make her happy.
